From inside to outside …

“As He says also in Hosea, “I will call those who were not my people, My people, And her who was not beloved, ‘Beloved’. And it shall be that the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ There they shall be called sons of the Living God.” Romans 9:25-26 New American Standard

God does amazing things with people who think that their life isn’t worth anything. He begins by giving you a new identity that begins in Christ. You were once a “not people”. That is the place where you feel like you don’t fit .. never will .. or will ever  measure up. Outwardly .. you may look successful or someone who doesn’t seem to struggle. But inwardly you struggle to hold on and grow weary looking for hope. You get a whole new life in Christ. He doesn’t just clean up the old places or rearrange the old you. He creates a whole new you with His life. Now you are known as the Beloved .. men and women called by God out of darkness .. called into a fruit-filled life .. and known as sons and daughters of the Living God. The Lord knows  where you struggle in this fallen world. He uses those places to teach you about grace .. about finding your strength and sufficiency in Christ and not your old patterns. People who live unloved wander in isolation.  He’ll allow the everyday pressures of living in an increasingly hostile world to to cause you to sink “your” roots in Christ. God already knows (and so do we) that we grow best under pressure. It causes us to stretch out our lives for His help .. protection .. and nourishing supply of grace. Your old life pointed away from Jesus and ensnared you in yourself. You were the source. Life in His Spirit is marked by a new life of love .. joy .. peace .. patience .. kindness .. goodness .. faithfulness .. gentleness .. and self-control. That is the fruit that God produces in you and the knowledge that you no longer wander alone and unloved. In Christ you are the Beloved .. changed .. transformed .. made new .. and Spirit-enabled to bear fruit where fear and frustration once reigned. It only takes a moment …

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
