“So, my dear Christian friends, companions in following this call to the heights, take a good hard look at Jesus. He’s the centerpiece of everything we believe, faithful in everything God gave him to do.” Hebrews 3:1 The Message
There are all kinds of distractions and obstacles in following Jesus. You can become stuck in the past .. unable to shake past events or memories that lay dormant until just “that” moment. The pressures of just living today .. being faithful .. walking in grace .. and trusting with joy .. are assaulted throughout a day. For the follower of Christ .. you have one centerpiece for everything in front of your day. You don’t have all the answers .. but there is One who does and is so generously available for every need .. question .. or situation. The comforting news about Jesus: He’s been there .. faced all the pressures you face .. faced every weakness and trial possible .. and still longs to lead you .. even if you mess up. He’s not familiar with sin .. personally. The Cross is where He met sin personally .. our sin. But He knows what it does in you and to those around your world. You won’t ever see Jesus condemning you when you fail. He’s there to be the help you desperately need. The door is wide open .. the path leads straight .. and Jesus? He’s right here .. for you .. to take all the mercy you need. It only takes a moment …
“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:14-16 The Message
