Scattered treasures …

May 8, 2017

“I, Peter, am an apostle on assignment by Jesus, the Messiah, writing to exiles scattered to the four winds. Not one is missing, not one forgotten. God the Father has his eye on each of you, and has determined by the work of the Spirit to keep you obedient through the sacrifice of Jesus. May everything good from God be yours.” 1 Peter 1:1-2 The Message

It is always going to be a mystery … why God chose you. The words that describe you: exiles .. chosen(elect) .. set apart .. and cherished will not be lost or forgotten. Your life is part of the “scattered to the four winds” people who are known and defined by the sacrifice of Jesus. And you have an assignment too! The everyday-winds of busyness and relentless voices trying to pull you away are unceasing. But your life is under His “eye”. You’re in His grip .. and He isn’t letting go. You may feel unnoticed or even forgotten. That is normal in a sin-wrecked world where broken lives are constantly trying to fix the unfixable. But if you’ll take the time .. deliberately .. and intentionally .. to look at Jesus .. He will speak every outside word into silence. Why? Because you are His personal treasure. Let that sink it: You are “His personal treasure”. Have you ever treasured something in your life? Almost everyone has. Your worth to God the Father is infinitely eternal .. never fading .. never forgotten.  God has assigned your life to be on display .. a work of His Spirit .. a work of grace .. a work of abiding truth. You can never be scattered beyond His reach. The Lord knows what you need today and what your true needs really are. It’s in Him .. Jesus .. that you’ll find the strength and help you need for today. He commands the “four winds”. He’ll watch over you even as He is working in you. Out of all the people on Earth .. you were chosen. And the only way  you can live out of that “word” is to follow Christ. It only takes a moment …

“Do this because you are a people set apart as holy to God, your God. God, your God, chose you out of all the people on Earth for himself as a cherished, personal treasure.” Deuteronomy 7:6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
