Can you let Jesus have your stuff …?

May 16, 2017

“So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.” Colossians 1:19-20 Message

What an amazing God we serve! This Jesus ..  the Saving One .. the Putting-us-back-together One .. The Spacious and Roomy Lord. The world He entered was broken and dislocated in time and dirt. The world He stepped into was broken and filled with broken people. And broken people easily feel like there isn’t a place for them in God’s agenda. They’re too far broken .. beyond fixing .. let alone finding “their” place in his Kingdom. But that’s exactly who “fits” in God’s universe. Your life is found there and with Jesus you begin to see and experience how He is putting your life back together. The world you live  in mocks .. dismisses .. and rejects such a One who is that spacious and roomy.  They don’t want to admit that this world is broken and beyond repair without Him. Maybe you’ve tried to live that way .. fix it on your own. Could it be any clearer what puts your life back together: his blood pouring down from a cross? Two thousand years later it seems so old and out of touch, But it is the only true point of history that is present tense everyday. And if you try to take on this day without Him, you’ll just be patching over broken things and not really living as Christ intended. He wants you whole .. living an uncrowded life .. brokenness explained .. healing underway. Life gets crowded when you are the one calling the shots. When Jesus arrived He was described as the One who is “generous inside out, true from start to finish.” Is there anyone or anything else you would rather trust for your life or family today? It only takes a moment …

“Now God, don’t hold out on me, don’t hold back your passion. Your love and truth are all that keeps me together.”  Psalm 40:11 Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
