Knowing …

“And this is real and eternal life: That they know you, The one and only true God, And Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” John 17:3 Message

What if you had to plan your day wondering what God is really like? Whether they admit it or not .. everyone steps into every day with an “image” of what God is like. God spoke through Isaiah: “Look I have inscribed your name on the palms of My hands. Your walls are continually before Me”. What is clear is that God knows exactly who you are. There is nothing hidden .. no surprises .. and no expectations. The great .. some would say incredible news is that you can begin this day knowing that God revealed His love to you when you were at your worst before Him. That tells you a lot about who He is. (We never like to think that our worst is really our worst … just some blemish that can be cleaned up.) But the Lord has spoken about who He is. A long time ago He described Himself as “showing faithful love .. justice .. and righteousness on the earth”. He invited you to know Him this way. Nothing hidden .. no surprises. Jesus made it very clear in His prayer that knowing God is by knowing Him. And attached to that everyday .. intimate  knowing is real life. Trying to live any other kind of life with any other kind of God is dead-end living. We’ve all tried it. You may have even tried it with Jesus: Living around Him .. living close to Him .. but not living through Him. Just think .. your day starts with your name written on God’s hands. If you look at your hands .. just imagine having “Jesus” written in the center of your hands. Knowing Christ gets really personal. His hands look a little bit different .. just so you can know what God is really like .. as you begin this day. It only takes a moment…

“This is what the Lord says: The wise man must not boast in his wisdom; the strong man must not boast in his strength; the wealthy man must not boast in his wealth. But the one who boasts should boast in this, that he understands and knows Me—that I am Yahweh, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. This is the Lord’s declaration.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 Holman Christian Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
