Want to impress God today…?

June 2, 2017

“If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life!” Romans 5:10 The Message

Everything you have ever thought the worst about yourself was taken by .. went into .. and became the worst in Jesus. In a very real sense your life is no longer your own. A Damascus Road Christ Follower summed up your life this way: “Christ lives in me”.  Everything about you and how you live today has Christ at the front of it. You can see how the day gets bumpy when you run out ahead of Him. (As if you really could!) He is going about the business of expanding and deepening your life. It takes a lot of patience .. generous helpings of grace .. and continuous assurance that indeed your life is no longer your own. Your life has become a whole lot more because Jesus has moved in. Yes, you’ll wrestle with old storage items in your mind and heart, things that lie dormant and suddenly demand you take back control. And you may at times. But you’ll find out how miserable life is when you are driven rather than led by Christ’s Spirit.  Your real freedom today is found by walking in faith of who Christ is in you. It is not a comparison of the worst of you and the best of Christ. It is all the worst of you exchanged for all of Christ. And Jesus loves you in the farthest corners of your heart and mind. Those places in you that you never thought were reachable. They are .. and He isn’t going to change His mind and move out. “The life you see me living is not “mine”. That’s His gift for you today. It only takes a moment..

” Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not “mine,” but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
