Finding your shape …

“Holy, Holy, Holy is God-of-the-Angel-Armies. His bright glory fills the whole earth.” Isaiah 6:3 The Message

An old Montana preacher described Isaiah’s work as calling Promised-People to submit their lives “to being shaped by the Word of God and on the lookout for the holy“. Think about some of the “words” that have shaped your life. There are affirming words .. abusive words .. celebrating words .. guiding words .. condemning words .. healing words .. loving words .. forgiving words .. and grace words. But looking out for the holy? That’s not usually part of our everyday schedules. When it happens you are speechless. All time seems to stop and your whole being is tasting but a moment of what being really alive feels like. When that Day arrives when you’ll no longer have to worry about tomorrow, deadlines, expectations, or how you’re going to make life work, there will be one song you will sing with all of your might: “Worthy are you, our Lord and God …”. The words will be fresh everyday forever. Until then, you are here to be shaped the Word of God. If parts of it seem to tear you down or strip away old habits and attitudes .. then there is the how much more words that build you up and create a whole new heart and mind. Jesus opened eyes by spitting on the dirt and touching blind eyes. He used his saliva to loosen the lost words on a man’s tongue. He spoke healing words over men and women who were written off and discarded. They don’t struggle any longer with what to say before this Nail-Scarred-King. How much more does Jesus want your life to be shaped by His Words. He doesn’t compete against all the noise and counterfeit sounds masquerading as truth. He knows if you hear His voice .. trust in His Words .. and live on the lookout , you will find solid ground beneath your feet. You’ll become more of you in Christ. What kind of words are starting your day? What kind of words will you use? If they are from Jesus they’ve passed through a cross and walked out of an empty grave. Pretty good words to depend on today .. It only takes a moment ..

“Worthy are  you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11 Holman Christian Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
