Up to date living…

August 21, 2017

What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heavens. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it’s as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up.” Psalm 119:89-90 The Message

There is a new threat everyday ..  rumors of evil .. and darkness masquerading as light. And where is God? He has not moved from His first spoken word. He hasn’t worried over what is happening in this world. He isn’t caught off guard. His truth holds against chaos and confusion. It never out goes out of fashion. If Jesus had not become fully human, then you would be left with truth as a concept .. an ideal .. or iron-standard. You would have done just what God’s people did a long time ago: decide to do what was right in their own eyes. But that wasn’t ever God’s plan. Jesus shows you what truth looks like in a less than perfect world .. fully alive .. unchanging but able to reach any life in any condition. Truth-hoarders never liked Jesus because they wanted truth to be exclusive. Instead of protecting truth, Jesus prayed that His followers would be saturated in truth. He prayed your life would be completely filled and shaped by truth … or in reality Jesus’ life. It sets you apart while at the same time sends you back into this very same broken .. truth denying world. So the question becomes: Are you saturated in this truth-consecrating Jesus? He prayed you would be set apart by this truth just as He knew what His grace would do in you. It keeps you from becoming hardened .. uncompassionate .. and unwilling to reach across to confused and often battered lives. Jesus prayed for your life. His prayer is that your life would reveal who He is by the way you live everyday. Scars .. mistakes .. struggles .. doubts .. and unsure about the way forward? His Word is truth. You can trust Him for the true way forward. It only takes a moment …

“Make them holy — consecrated — with the truth; Your word is consecrating truth.” John 17:17 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
