Staying close to the Source…

August 29, 2017

“We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow healthy in God, robust in love.” Ephesians 4:16 The Message

There are parts of you that you see and wonder how could God truly love what you think you see so clearly? It takes time to trust that Christ is the source of everything that you are and that you do. Parts of your past creep in and then there are those moments when you respond in some way that catches your breath .. because you know it was Christ-in-you that responded .. and not you. It was you .. but it was Christ. It’s Christ that nourishes you. His life is your health .. renewing you on the inside .. and working through you day to day.  Your old life could never sustain such a robust love. God is reproducing a love in you  that cannot be manufactured from your old life. It’s amazing how we try to make something good out of that old life. That way of life has to go. The cross settles the question about what you can keep. With Christ in your life, you’re not the same. The new you lives with a promise: God is fashioning your life.  He specializes in lives just like yours.  It only takes a moment …

” … everything — and I do mean everything — connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life — a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.” Ephesians 4:22-24 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
