Recovery stories sent everywhere …

August 31, 2017

“…. he found the place where it was written, ‘God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free, to announce, “This is God’s year to act!”‘ Luke 4:18-20 The Message

Your identity was unrolled and read by Jesus a long time ago. It hasn’t changed and it never will. God’s Spirit is to be “on” you. His life changes your life to “bear a strong family likeness to Jesus and freedom from everything unlike Him”. (Oswald Chambers) Your life is to ‘preach the Message of good news’. All kinds of poor hear this Message:  poor in spirit .. poor in possessions .. poor in wealth .. and poor in health. God is sending you to bring good news .. this message of grace .. message of hope .. and message of faithfulness. God knows the heart of every prisoner. Prisons aren’t just made of walls and bars. The most cruel ones are the ones that entrap your heart .. suffocate your life .. and steal your hope and health. The Lord remembers when you were in one of them. He sees the lives of sightless men and women just going through the motions .. hoping  blindly for something better around the corner.  You can’t set the burdened and battered free .. but God can and does everyday.  He loves using you to set lives free. Jesus didn’t just unroll a scroll. He was willingly unrolling His life so you could be set free. It was the only way for your life to be transformed into a grace filled witness .. claiming no ownership but sharing everything. Resurrection lives have only one message .. Christ .. alive .. now. The circumstances are His canvas.  It only takes a moment …

“The whole congregation of believers was united as one — one heart, one mind! They didn’t even claim ownership of their own possessions No one said, “That’s mine; you can’t have it.” They shared everything. The apostles gave powerful witness to the resurrection of the Master Jesus, and grace was on all of them.” Acts 4:32-33 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
