“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us..” Hebrews 12:1 New American Standard

Behind your life are stories filled with challenges and obstacles  … and they kept their eyes on Jesus … even when it was all that they had left. You’re not alone in what you are facing today. Behind those stories and in front of your life is a cross that claimed every moment .. every mile .. and every parasitic sin that would snare you. Those are the ones that cause you to feel powerless and helpless. In those moments you don’t look to yourself but to Jesus. He knows exactly what you are facing  .. experiencing .. and feeling as you step into this day. The things that entangle you are not all bad. In fact, it’s the everyday habits that so easily distract you and cause you to look at today through “your eyes”. The innocent snares are the ones that make you think you can handle almost anything. Those clouds of witnesses remind us that we are in a race with a real finish. It doesn’t matter if the world around you recognizes this race or not. You know it is real because of all the lives behind you that looked at Jesus and stayed faithful because of His life. Are you caught up in anything? Is there anything that keeps you from “fixing” your eyes on Christ? Job pressure .. Marriage cracks .. Financial pressures? It doesn’t take  much to draw our eyes away from the One who endured.   It’s not your self-effort that sets you free.  It’s Christ .. the author and perfecter of “everything that makes your life worth living”. Make sure your vision is unimpaired today. It only takes a moment …

“fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” Hebrews 12:1-2 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
