Gloriously out of balance…

October 9, 2017

“… what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 The Message

We constantly seek balance in our lives. It offers hope that we can have some semblance of control, manage or minimize the unexpected. Jesus never used the word balance to describe a life trusting Him. He used the word all. There is no middle ground in Christ. You don’t set aside the parts of your life that you want to keep. There is no halfway point to stop and catch your breath. You don’t get to create the life you want. You don’t get a choice of how much of Jesus you want to move into your life. Of course … many try .. maybe you have .. to manage your new life with remnants of your old life. The world we live in is relentless in trying to shape this sinless-crucified-risen NAZARENE into manageable portions. There’s no faith or religion on earth .. in all of history .. that can compare to this God-of-Angel-Armies, who took on fingerprints and became your sin .. so  you could find new life in Him. The world’s message is “balance”. Christ’s offer is “a new creation”.  He has only one life to give you … His. And the rest of your new life is spent learning to love the life He is living in you. You’ll face battles over good things and battles over un-Son-like things. But the life that Jesus gives you is a life filled with his love, promise and presence. An old major repeatedly said: “only Christ can live the Christian life, because He is the Christian life!” Why not start fresh today … it only takes a moment …

“What actually took place is this: I tried keeping rules and working my head off to please God, and it didn’t work. So I quit being a “law man” so that I could be God’s man. Christ’s life showed me how, and enabled me to do it. I identified myself completely with him. Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. ” Galatians 2:19-20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
