When sight leaves scars…

October 25, 2017

“The man replied, “This is amazing! You claim to know nothing about him, but the fact is, he opened my eyes! … They said, “You’re nothing but dirt! How dare you take that tone with us!” Then they threw him out in the street.” John 9:30, 34 The Message

It’s happened for over two thousand years. THE SCAR: the rejecting .. condemning .. unforgiving .. refusing .. dismembering .. unreconciled scar that has damaged so many hearts and lives in the name of Jesus. A disabled man is given sight and he is threatened and belittled. His family is made to cower in fear. The scar can eventually become so infected you wonder if God was really in it. Maybe you walked away defeated? Maybe you’ve carried that scar long enough? And maybe you’ve inflicted a few scars out of your own hurt. It happens. Sin leaves scars. A follower of Jesus knows the reality of God mending broken hearts through a cross .. some bread and wine .. and some nail scarred hands. Healing lives is God’s great redeeming work. Words armed with rejection and condemnation leave lasting scars. Until Jesus finds you .. and He will. Jesus knows where  to find the discouraged .. dismissed .. and discarded. He knows what orphans look like on the inside. He’s familiar with rejection and betrayal. He also has the scars to prove how much you’re wanted by Him. He still gives sight to the blind .. life to a deadened heart .. and strength to walk by faith. Two thousand years has not changed the power of His Name. It only takes a moment …

“Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and went and found him. He asked him, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” The man said, “Point him out to me, sir, so that I can believe in him.” Jesus said, “You’re looking right at him. Don’t you recognize my voice?” “Master, I believe,” the man said, and worshiped him. Jesus then said, “I came into the world to bring everything into the clear light of day, making all the distinctions clear, so that those who have never seen will see, and those who have made a great pretense of seeing will be exposed as blind.” John 9:35-39 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
