“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Here is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 Christian Standard
Jesus wore a title throughout his working life. He was called the Lamb of God by a desert dwelling God messenger. He didn’t seek any self promotion. Most of his ministry was not about proving who He was .. but revealing what God was doing through his life. He was born to bear your sins. It’s comforting to think of the “sins of the whole world”. When you isolate your life .. just your sins .. and realize there needed to be another human being to literally wear all your sins .. you begin to grasp how serious God is about sin. And Jesus didn’t stop at the cross. He became your risen advocate .. standing on your behalf before God the Father. Any accusation against you is met with his voice. His life bears the weight and witness that no evidence against your life can stand. No indictment can separate you from his cross. You were accepted by the Father when you were at your worst. Why? Because of this Lamb. Everything about your life has been paid for .. all sin-debts paid in full .. all record of sins wiped clean .. all past, present, and future sin found in the risen creases of his scarred hands and feet. If there is any murmur of fault or condemning flaw raised against you, Jesus answers with absolute authority to remove any and all lies against your name. This is the life that awaits you today. The lamb of God has covered your life. The Righteous Advocate defends you. You don’t have to bear the weight of what you’ve done or the struggles you face. The world doesn’t want a lamb with such authority. You can truly give thanks today that God would erase your sin .. and all your sins … with Jesus, the lamb of God. It only takes a moment…
“My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father — Jesus Christ the righteousness one. He himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world.” 1 John 2:1-2 Christian Standard
